Unique property in Crete

Unique property in Crete. Rare opportunity to acquire a very graphic stone house full of elegance and charm, a real hideaway atop a hill offering extreme privacy, with 360 degrees unobstructed views overlooking the sea, the mountains, olive groves and surrounding villages ... This authentically traditional 75m² residence stands on an impressive sloping site of 9.000m² with 230 small olive trees, being just perfect for someone who seeks peace and tranquility, as the nearest neighbor is 2 kilometers away. A distinctive and very special feature of the houses construction is that it has been made of stone; the wall has a 1 to 1.5 meter thickness, the floors and the roof are also made of stone with a 9 meter foundation stone perimeter. It consists of a living room with fireplace, a 45m² kitchen, a 6m² bathroom with shower, one bedroom and a large covered terrace of 12m² in total. There is autonomy in electric generation with photovoltaics and water autonomy ensured by two water tanks. The property for sale is perfectly suitable for extension of the current house or the construction of a new dwelling, as it also has an additional building allowance of 300m². This house offers the purchaser the opportunity to create a heavenly living space and a future investment. The area is rural and accessed via dirt road, about 500 metres long, with a number of local shops (taverns, a butchers and a supermarket) within a 3km distance. Location: This is a deeply beautiful area where steep mountains are dissected by deep gorges and picturesque valleys sprout chestnut trees watered by gurgling mountain streams. The village of Deliana is home to both a cafenion and an excellent taverna. The village is also the starting point of the beautiful Deliana Gorge, a fairly unchallenging but rewarding gorge walk. There and back it will take you about two hours depending on how many times you stop to admire the Griffon vultures which can be spotted throughout the year. During cooler times, a stream runs alongside the path and down the rocks. Also in Deliana, the well preserved church of the Agios Ioannis, is pretty from the outside and has some beautiful frescoes on its walls inside, its one of the nicest of the many Byzantine churches in this area. Appearing to erupt out of the olive green treetops, a rocky bluff sweeps upwards with many caves hidden amongst its craggy facade, one of which was the wartime hide out of radio transmitters sending messages to British forces during the occupation of Crete. A memorial in the grounds of one of the churches in Malathiros tells its own story in columns of family names of the consequent reprisals for the assistance these radio transmitters were given by local heroes. Its an approximate 15 mins drive to drop down into the bay of Kastelli and a little under 30 mins to the little harbour side town of Kolymbari.
