Elounda, a distinguished resort area, 11km north of Agios Nikolaos, at the north-east part of Crete, is noted for its coves and rocky coastlines as well as for the beautiful village of Elounda itself, the fishing harbour, the sunken city of Olous and the remains of a Byzantine basilica. The village of Elounda is near the sea, with indented coastline, shaded beaches, crystal clear seas, and a tranquil and heavenly environment and has a view of peaceful Elounda Bay and Spinalonga. The village has a number of restaurants and tavernas and many quality hotels are near by. Elounda is a vibrant village with a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere! The tiny island of Spinalonga, or Kalidon, is a popular excursion for tourists staying as far afield as Malia and other large resorts on the island. Its history is varied and reflective of Cretes turbulent past, at times having been a Venetian fortress and in its saddest incarnation as the last leper colony in Europe, the last sufferers of the disease only leaving their exiled existence in the 1950s. Most of the buildings from the various centuries remain and it is a destination guaranteed to fill the visitor with both awe and humility. Trip boats depart for the island from both the harbour at Schisma and the quayside at Plaka. The plot has a facade of 49m to the sea and 25m to a communal road ans is suitable for residential use. Water, electricity and sewage are available in a close distance. Above sea level the house enjoys wonderful ocean breezes and incredible sunsets !
